Immanuel - God With Us
The topic of God – Jesus, in particular – can get people riled. Some agree that He does exist; however, you would never know it by their life, “giving Him room” only a few times a year as obligated by traditions. Some are adamant that He does not exist and suppose only the weak would believe such a thing. Still others are indifferent to the topic, not caring enough to search for the truth.
People sometimes ask, “Where is God?” Songwriter’s ponder, “What if God were one of us?” Agnostics claim, “I doubt there is a God.” Atheists declare, “There is no God.” Some scientists argue, “I can prove God does not exist.” The indifferent say, “Who cares. I don’t need God.”
What is truly extraordinary is that before you or any of the above-mentioned people groups were even able to have a thought about God or debate in your mind His existence, He thought of you. He ordained a day for you to be born, the place you would be born, and handpicked your parents. He assigned your eye and hair color, your ethnicity and your gender. He knows your every thought. He knows your strengths and weaknesses. He understands your propensity to sin, and He made a Plan to redeem you.
The Plan was conceived in eternity past: Jesus Christ was born in a manger, walked the earth, died on a tree, was buried with the dead, arose, and is coming again. The Plan is set in stone, written in Jesus’ blood, and resulted in Christ’s being hung on a tree for all to see. There is no excuse. Jesus said, “He that hath seen me hath seen the Father.” John 14:9
Every minute of every hour of every day, God thinks of you. If He had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.
To the individual who asks “Where is God?,” God says, “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13
To the songwriter who sings “What if God were one of us?,” He was. His name is Jesus, and He walked with us for 33 years. He was born of a virgin, became a servant, was tempted in all things, and yet without sin. He humbled himself and was obedient onto death, even death on a cross, and today, He sits at the right hand of the Father interceding for you and I. Matthew 1:23, John 1:1-5, Isaiah 7:14, Hebrews 4:15, Philippians 2:8, 1 Timothy 2:5.
To the agnostic who declares “I doubt there is a God,” God says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6.
To the atheist who exclaims “There is no God,” the Bible says, “The fool hath said in his heart, ‘There is no God.’” Psalm 14:1
To the scientist who says “I can prove there is no God,” God says, “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?” Job 38:4.
To the indifferent who say “Who cares. I don’t need God,” the Bible says, “It is appointed unto men once to die and then the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27
Just as you had an appointed day to be born, you also have an appointed day to die. Ecclesiastes 3:2
Judgment IS coming. You do not have to face the judgment alone.
You can have an advocate in Jesus.
“My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin.
But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.”
1 John 2:1
Jesus IS The Plan’s Redeemer. He was born to die for YOU.
“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him
we might become the righteousness of God.”
2 Corinthians 5:21
Immanuel, God with us.
“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign: Behold, a virgin shall conceive,
and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
He loves you.
“I have loved you with an everlasting love: I have drawn you with loving-kindness.”
Call upon Him. His name is Jesus. His name is Savior.
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven
given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
