The Resurrection of Jesus Christ

"Why seek ye the living among the dead?" Luke 24:5(b)

Without the resurrection of Jesus Christ, not only is there is no Christianity, there is no hope ... for anyone ... ALL is lost.

It is hard for me to understand why so many try so hard to disprove the resurrection of Jesus. I suppose due to their own human pride, with prompting from the evil one, these individuals find it easier to not believe. That way in their warped rationalizations, they can continue living as the god of their own life, not understanding the destiny that lies just beyond this life.

The Old Testament prophesied the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Bible has hundreds of prophecies about Jesus, and although these prophecies were written by different men over many years, they were divinely fulfilled.

The New Testament is a witness of Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection. There are at least 12 documented eyewitness accounts of Jesus' post resurrection:

01. Mary Magdalene

02. The Women at the Tomb

03. Two disciples on the road to Emmaus

04. Peter at Jerusalem

05. His disciples behind locked doors without Thomas

06. One week later, His disciples with Thomas

07. Seven disciples on the Shore of Galilee

08. 500 witnesses

09. James

10. 11 disciples on the mountain of Galilee

11. Disciples on the road to Bethany

12. Apostle Paul on the road to Damascus

Jesus resurrection was also documented by historians such as Josephus, who went into great detail in describing what was seen by these eyewitnesses.

What other religious leader has a verified empty grave and eyewitnesses of a bodily resurrection?

It is worthy to note that the birth of Christ is used as the dating system of the entire world. B.C. stands for “before Christ” and A.D. (anno domini) means “in the year of our Lord.”

What other religious leader has that distinction?

1 Peter 3:18-22 speaks of how after Jesus’ death, but prior to His bodily resurrection, He proclaimed to the spirits in prison, announcing His victory over sin, death, hell, demons and Satan.

Who else other than Jesus could do that? No one, for only He has the authority to do so.

Ephesians 4:8-10 says that He ascended (after He descended) and led captivity captive.

Our victorious King!

There is no greater love story! He came for us! He walked with us! He suffered for us! He died for us! He conquered death for us! He was raised for Us! He is coming again for Us!

Jesus victory over death is the believers’ victor over death. Because He rose again, so can I.

If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved (Romans 10:9).

Are you a believer? If not, why not? Surely, you cannot really think that you can conquer death. Go to any other grave, any other leaders’ grave, and you will find a rotting body whose soul/spirit has departed, only to find an even greater sorrow than the grave: eternity without Jesus’ Christ!

Today is the day of salvation! Call upon the name of Jesus and you shall be saved.

I’d like to share with you the following youtube video by S.M. Lockridge entitled That’s My King. I cannot listen to it without being in awe of He who saved my soul.

He is risen!

He is risen indeed!
